What Is an Expansion Board?

An expansion board, also known as an adapter card or peripheral card, is a printed circuit board that can be inserted into an electrical connector called an expansion slot (also called a bus slot) on the motherboard of a computer to add functionality.expansion board Generally speaking, an expansion card will allow the addition of new components like a video card, sound card, modem, and/or network connection to your PC, giving it a whole host of additional capabilities that the motherboard alone could not perform.
